Protestors Rally Against McKeesport Strip Club Plans
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A big fight to try and stop a strip club from opening is underway in McKeesport.
Saints and Sinners planned to open for Valentine's Day, but they haven't been able to yet.
On Saturday, protestors made it clear that they don't want the establishment to open at all.
Saints and Sinners sits along the Christy Park Business District.
Neighbors aren't welcoming the new business.
"We really don't think that a strip club is the kind of business that's going to help continue to promote new development in McKeesport," Cathy Barnhart said.
"I don't like it as a resident and as a city taxpayer. This does not speak well of our city, of our community," Brent Robertson said.
Residents, religious leaders and business owners are trying to prevent the club from opening.
They've taken their fight to the Liquor Control Board, City Council and anyone who will listen.
"We have also been contacting local business owners to get them on board. We have sent letters to the mayor. We have his support and the support of the City Council, but we need to make sure that the people in the community know what's happening," Barnhart said.
The club owner has already put a lot of money into the business.
So far, neither he nor his attorney will comment on the opposition to the club.
Another protest is planned for Monday night at the Bethlehem Baptist Church during a prayer meeting.
