Primary election deadlines approaching

Deadline day to register to vote in primary election

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If you want to vote in this month's Primary election, there are some key dates to remember.

Monday is the last day to register to vote before the May 17 election.

The deadline to request a mail-in or absentee ballot is May 10.

To date, the state said more than 771,600 Pennsylvanians have applied for a mail-in ballot and more than 90,200 Pennsylvanians have applied for an absentee ballot to vote in the primary.

Once received, they should be returned as soon as possible.

Mailed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots received after that time will not count, even if postmarked by 8 p.m.

Ballots can also be hand-delivered by the voter to their county elections office, officially designated satellite office or a drop box site.

On the ballot in just two weeks, elections will be held in the races for governor, lieutenant governor, U.S. senator, and U.S. representative.

Many will also be electing new state representatives based on new district lines that have been drawn.
