PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Light rail transit is back on track again in the downtown area, but that was not the case during part of the Tuesday evening commute home.
Downtown T-trains were stopped for almost a half an hour during the peak of the rush hour after a man was spotted walking inside a rail tunnel near the North Side T station.
Steve Karlinchak, of McKeesport, said, "Does he know how dangerous that is? That's my question. I can't believe anybody could really be that dumb."
"That's crazy, and it's dangerous. I can't believe someone would have the guts to do that," rider Michelle Byrnes said.
Adam Joseph Maxwell, 29, was taken into custody by Port Authority Police and Pittsburgh Police. He's charged with trespassing, and additional charges are pending. His last known address was in the Uptown neighborhood.
It's not known how long Maxwell was walking on the tracks, or why. Or, whether he was seen on one of the many security cameras in the North Side station.
Passengers that KDKA caught up with said it was fortunate no body was hurt because of Maxwell's actions.
Alecia Suto, of Bellevue, said, "That puts everybody on the train in harm's way, as well as himself."
Maxwell was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated.
