Police Take Man In Wheelchair Into Custody After Oakland Stabbing
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh man, who is wheelchair-bound, is behind bars, charged with stabbing his neighbor in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
Edward Jackson, in his 40s, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after police said he stabbed a woman who lived upstairs of his residence in the 3200-block of Dawson Street.
Police found her on the front porch of the South Oakland home just before 4 p.m.
A neighbor says she was bleeding profusely, and he saw cuts on her chest and arm.
As Jackson was being taken into custody by police, he yelled, "I have done nothing wrong. Someone came into my house and attacked me, and I'm going to jail for nothing."
He said he didn't even know the woman's name.
Jackson was taken away by police in a specially designed sheriff's van with a motorized ramp and hooks to secure a wheelchair.
Police say the unidentified woman who was stabbed, first hospitalized in critical condition, has now had her condition ungraded to stable.
Police continue to investigate.
