Police Seek Suspect In Armed Robbery At New Castle Bank

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- Police in Lawrence County are searching for a suspect following an armed bank robbery this afternoon in New Castle.

Authorities say the robbery happened just before noon at the First Merit Bank in the 3200-block of Wilmington Road.

According to Neshannock Township Police, the suspect walked up to a teller and handed over a note that said, "Give me the money. I have a gun."

The teller gave him money and then the suspect ran out and got away on foot, heading southbound through the parking lots, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male, about six-feet-two-inches tall, in his mid-20s with a thin to medium build and light facial hair.

He was wearing a gray, zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, boots and a blue stocking cap.

Authorities have not released how much money he got away with.

State Police and the FBI were also called to the scene.

Anyone with information on the robbery is being asked to contact the Neshannock Township Police.
