EAST HILLS (KDKA) - Police are searching for the driver and passenger of a vehicle that was involved in a head-on collision in East Hills that killed one person early Friday morning.
Police were called to the 8300 block of Frankstown Avenue around 5:30 a.m. after a passerby and OnStar reported a two-vehicle collision.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a white Chevy Silverado truck and a black Kia Sportage SUV.
The driver of the Kia had been ejected from her car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the victim as 59-year-old Rhoda P. Everson, of Verona.
A resident living nearby the accident scene, James Haddock, says it's a bad stretch of road.
"It seems to be anytime there's an accident here that's fatal, there's no answers," he said. "No reason, no rhyme. Nobody understands."
According to police, the driver of the truck fled the scene. Police believe the driver was male and there may have also been a female passenger in the truck.
The accident remains under investigation.
