Police Searching For Scott Twp. Bank Robbery Suspect

SCOTT TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank Wednesday morning in Scott Township.

"He walked in slamming the counters, and said, 'Just give me your money,'" said FBI Special Agent Michael Brokas.

The robbery happened after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First National Bank in the Greentree Road Shopping Center.

"One of our customers came in, and she said there was a bunch of cop cars outside," said Carla Dick, who works nearby.

Very few people were aware that something was wrong until police arrived.

Hanging a "Closed" sign on the door, bank personnel, detectives and the FBI went through the post-robbery drill. No one was harmed, and the robber never showed a weapon.

"It was a small amount this time, so it was less than $1,000," said Brokas.

The bank robbery suspect is described as a white man, at least six-feet tall, thin build, wearing glasses and a tan jacket with a blue-hooded sweatshirt beneath, and camouflage gloves covered his hands. His face was mostly masked.

"We think he's in his mid-20s to early 30s," said Brokas.

Minutes later he was gone.

Officials say he left on foot and ran down Greentree Road.

"We had the K-9s follow a track, but at this point nothing came out of that," said Scott Township Police Sgt. Jeff Skees.

Brokas told KDKA's Mary Robb Jackson that the bank tellers, who are mostly women, though rattled, did - in his words - 'an awesome job' preventing the robber from getting away with a much bigger haul.
