Police Searching For Assault Suspect In Swissvale

SWISSVALE (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh man remains on the run after incidents described as road rage and domestic violence Saturday afternoon in Penn Hills; and for a while, the search for him was focused on a usually quiet neighborhood in Swissvale.

Police set up a perimeter near the Forest Apartments and Condominiums tucked away on Brinton Road for a few hours Saturday afternoon. They have since called off the part of their search around the complex, but are still on the lookout for the suspect.

They are searching for 25-year-old Lorenzo Morton.

Swissvale Police Chief Greg Geppert says Morton is wanted after he assaulted his girlfriend, and then drove to Swissvale where they found his car abandoned near Smokey Wood Drive.

"I've never seen that many police. There was Port Authority Police, and they had their rifles out, and sheriffs," said David Payne, a resident of the area. "There's woods behind me, woods on that side, woods down there, woods all over the place."

Chief Geppert said Morton's girlfriend followed him in her car through several communities, even onto the Parkway East before he got off in Swissvale.

"Started in Penn Hills," said Chief Geppert. "He, I guess, assaulted his girlfriend, then the road rage from Penn Hills to Swissvale, several calls from between Penn Hills and Swissvale. She was actually chasing him in the car after he assaulted her. It ended up here in Swissvale. He bailed out of the car and they're in the process of searching for him right now."

Morton is described as being about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-9-inches tall, 260 pounds with short hair. He was last seen wearing a Pirates' shirt and long black pants.

Chief Geppert says Morton is wanted by several other police agencies on various drug and weapons charges.

Police say if you see Morton, do not approach him, but call 911 immediately.

Several police departments are involved in the search, as well as some police K-9s.

Morton's girlfriend was not harmed in the incident.
