Police Say Woman, 19, Tried To Kill Teen In Hit-And Run

ROCHESTER, Pa. (AP/KDKA) - 15-year-old Jordan Thompson was rushed from the scene after the force of impact caused him to fly on the hood of a car, which caused his head to strike the windshield then hit the pavement.

His parents at the scene were not sure how seriously he was hurt, hearing initially there was bleeding on the brain.

It happened Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of Virginia Avenue in Rochester Township, Beaver County.

Witnesses told police the 2009 white Chevrolet went from the northbound lane to the southbound lane then onto the shoulder of the road while Thompson and another girl walked alongside that road.

Police have arrested 19-year-old Lyric Mason. She now faces charges including criminal attempted homicide aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Police say the car she was driving was first by a Beaver Falls officer with front end damage. Later it was discovered in Slippery Rock, where she left the vehicle and tried to escape using her mother's car according to police.

Investigators will only say the hit and run appears to be motivated by some sort of revenge but say they're investigation is ongoing and have yet to reach a conclusion about motive.

Late this afternoon Jordan's mother posted on her Facebook page that her son is improving, the bleeding on the brain has stabilized and she thanked everyone for their prayers .
