Police Probe Vehicle Vandalism Spree In Imperial

IMPERIAL (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after dozens of vehicles were broken into during an overnight vandalism spree in the Imperial area.

There's a lot of shattered glass, broken mirrors, and ransacked cars today in North Fayette Township.

"This is not right. This is not right at all," said Rachel Smith, a victim of the vandalism. "We shouldn't have to go through this in Imperial."

As many as 26 cars were broken into overnight on just one street.

The crooks struck quickly. They broke windows, avoided car alarms, and took cash, GPS systems and an iPod.

Now, residents are angry.

"I'm really mad. It's really senseless," said Laura Bigler, another resident who had her property damaged. "It's going to cost me like $300 now."

Up and down Crawford Street, piles of shattered glass mark the trail where the thieves went on a wild rampage overnight.

Folks have a theory on why someone would do this.

"Somebody looking for money for drugs," said Bigler.

"Anybody doing anything for a fix," added Smith.
