South Side Street Robbery Suspects Sought
SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) - Pittsburgh Police are investigating a street robbery on the South Side.
On Jan. 18 around 8:40 p.m., a 35-year-old man was approached by two unknown men while walking home along the 100-block of South 16th Street.
He said one of the men grabbed his left arm and demanded that he hand over his belongings. The victim saw a gun in the pocket of the suspect's sweatshirt and handed over his cell phone and wallet.
The suspects ran away from the scene in the direction of East Carson Street.
"I'm kind of shocked by that," Chelsea Calderone said. "There's so much volume here of people, I can't believe someone was able to get away with that."
The victim had two credit cards and a debit card in his wallet.
Police say the credit cards have been used at several retail locations in Bloomfield and Lawrenceville.
Previously, police released a surveillance picture of two women using the stolen card at a local store.
Today. Pittsburgh Police released a statement saying they've identified the two women suspected of using the victim's stolen credit cards, but the investigation into the South Side street robbery continues.
"Before, this was one of the nicest places you could live, keep your doors open, everything. Not now, you don't know what's going to happen to you," said Frank Kozikowski, who's lived in the South Side for 51 years.
Kozikowski said he's not surprised to learn about the recent street robbery in his neighborhood.
"I don't come out at night," he said.
Police haven't identified the men responsible for the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Zone 3 Police at (412)-488-8326.
