Police: Man Dressed In Army Uniform Steals Pool From Walmart
SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Fayette County man is in trouble with police after they say he stole a swimming pool from a local Walmart while dressed in a military uniform.
Retail theft is not an unusual crime; in fact, it happens every day. It's also known as shoplifting.
But police say this case is unusual in that the suspect allegedly dressed up like a soldier and tried to steal a swimming pool.
The alleged theft took place at the South Union Township Walmart.
According to investigators, James Silbaugh, of Fairchance, walked into the store wearing a United States Army Class A uniform.
Authorities say Silbaugh grabbed a $500 backyard pool, put it in a shopping cart and marched out of the store without paying for it.
Once in the parking lot, state police say Silbaugh, who's Myspace page has pictures of the 36-year-old in a U.S. Army battle dress uniform, unboxed the pool, threw it in his car and took off.
It's unknown if Silbaugh was or is still in the military or why he tried to allegedly steal a pool in an Army dress uniform. Troopers eventually caught up with him and placed him under arrest.
He remains free as retail theft charges against him are pending.
