Police Looking For Driver In Washington Co. Hit-And-Run
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are trying to find the driver in a hit and run in Washington County.
A man was hit by a car earlier this week in South Strabane Township.
But the driver never stopped. Police are trying to determine if it's a case of road rage.
"At this point, we're not able to determine that. We're looking to get both sides of the story, we've only got one side right now," said Detective Mike Schidlmeir.
Whether it was road rage is part of this investigation, but something was going on here and the victim has not given the investigators a lot of detail.
"There might have been more contact between these two drivers in the vehicles, previous to the driver in the black vehicle being struck and we realize that this might have started miles from where the incident occurred," said Schidlmeir.
Police will not release the victim's name, but say he's in his 20s.
He was traveling eastbound on Route 40. He and the driver behind him both stopped their cars. The victim got out and began walking towards the driver.
He was in the white car that was captured on surveillance video. All of a sudden, the driver of the white car takes off, hitting the victims.
"Multiple witnesses showed that the white vehicle had fled back toward the City of Washington. The victim was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, he is stable but has significant serious injuries," said Schidlmeir.
It happened around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say the suspect is a white male 40 to 50 years old with gray hair. He was driving a four-door sedan, possibly a Ford.
