Suspect Who Was Shot After Allegedly Pointing Gun At Police Identified
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Sources have identified the man who was shot by police after allegedly pointing his gun at the officers.
Sources confirm the victim is 29-year-old Bryant Blye of Northview Heights. Blye has several previous arrests on drug, assault and gun charges. Sources also confirm he has been hospitalized several times for mental problems and he has been shot before, in the head in a gun battle. Now, he's in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
The shooting happened about 8 p.m., with a lot of people going about their business in the Brighton Heights apartment building.
"It was boom, boom. I just went in my door," witness Anna Evans said. She says she barely escaped the gunfire.
"It was loud, very loud. Thirty-four shots, something like that," witness Glen Clark said. He watched the shooting go down and saw the victim's body.

The evidence of the police shooting was everywhere, with bullet holes scattered all along the hallway and along the carpet.
Witnesses say it all started in the hallway. They say Blye was fighting with his girlfriend, and then police came in and saw the gun. An eyewitness told KDKA's Marty Griffin that police were yelling "put the gun down, put the gun down." Witnesses say Blye ran down the hallway, and that's when the barrage of gunfire started.
The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave, as per standard procedure for a police-involved shooting.
