STRIP DISTRICT (KDKA) -- Police are searching for two people who robbed a Strip District diner early Sunday morning.

Officers were sent to Pamela's Diner on 21st Street for a report of an armed robbery just before 5 a.m.

Police say the employee was just putting his key into the door to open the business when two male suspects wearing hoods approached him. One of the suspects was armed.

"One of the managers here got out of his car for work this morning. Somebody put a gun to his head, took him to the back, made him give up the money," Pamela's Diner employee Daryl West said.

Police say the suspects tied the employee up and ran from the diner with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The employee did not suffer any major injuries.

"We've never thought of the Strip as an unsafe neighborhood. It's always been like family and our staff is like family," Pamela's Diner co-owner Gail Klingensmith said.

Police initially believed there were three suspects in the robbery, but they later determined there were only two.

An investigation is ongoing.
