Police Investigating Fatal Homewood Shooting

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Homewood early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the shooting happened near the intersection of Frankstown and Brushton Avenues shortly after 5 a.m.

Police received a ShotSpotter notification and arrived at the scene within minutes.

"When officers arrived on the scene, they found him near the location of the shots fired. Officers did perform CPR, but they were unsuccessful, he was already deceased," Schaffer said.

The victim was identified on the Facebook page for Stop the Killing, Embrace Life as Gregory McLeod, 28, of Homewood.

"Right now, we are canvassing the area to determine what resources we have to help us with this investigation," Department of Public Safety Assistant PIO Emily Schaffer said. "Right now, we are canvassing the area to determine what resources we have to help us with this investigation."

Part of Frankstown Avenue was closed for a few hours while detectives were collecting evidence.
