Police Investigating Deadly Shooting Along Parkway East

WILKINS TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- State police and Pittsburgh police are looking into a deadly shooting in a moving car along the Parkway East.

State police say the shooting is drug related and that the people in both cars involved knew each other and are related.

Shaka McGhie, 24, was shot numerous times while he was a backseat passenger traveling along the Parkway East right before the Churchill exit.

The shooting happened right around 11 p.m. Sunday inside the vehicle.

Authorities say after the Wilkinsburg man was shot, the car stopped and the driver and front seat passenger got out.

When a woman who was traveling in a car behind the first saw the men get out and not McGhie, she ran to his aide. Police say she knew the men in the car.

"The other driver parked her vehicle, left it there and then took the vehicle that he was in and instead of taking his body out of the vehicle, she drove the vehicle to the hospital," Pennsylvania State Police Tpr. Robin Mungo said.

Because the woman only knew how to get to Children's Hospital, she drove McGhie there, where he was pronounced dead.

State police said they have an idea of the people who were involved and expect to release more information.

McGhie had survived being shot once before in October of 2011 while celebrating his birthday at Club Zen in Station Square. He's also faced a number of criminal charges over the years, including drug and gun charges.
