Police Investigating After Man Found Dead In New Castle

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) - Authorities in Lawrence County responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle only to discover a man's body lying on the street Thursday morning.

Now, they are treating his death as a homicide.

According to New Castle Police, officers were called to Sciota Street for a suspicious vehicle early this morning.

When they arrived, they found 35-year-old Robert Q. Brown dead on the ground near his car.

Police said he had a severe head injury, but initially the call came across as a shooting. A cousin of Brown, who lives beside the alley where his body was found, said she heard a gunshot this morning.

Police said Brown lived in an apartment just across the street from where he was killed.

New Castle Police spent time at a nearby auto body shop with surveillance cameras that could be helpful in the investigation.

No other details have been released at this time.
