Police: 1 Person Charged In Fatal Hopewell Township Stabbing

HOPEWELL (KDKA) -- Police have charged one person in connection to a late-night fatal stabbing in Beaver County.

According to Hopewell Township Police, the stabbing was initially reported around 11 p.m. Tuesday on Guy Street.

Police say the incident began as a fight between two men.

The victim was taken by Stat MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials are not yet releasing his name.

Hopewell Township Police have charged the suspect, 25-year-old Yusmani Portorrial Sanchez, with voluntary manslaughter.

"The township as a whole, that street included, you know, not the type of activity we're dealing with on a regular basis," said Hopewell Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher.

Officials were on the scene for at least eight hours, collecting evidence. At one point, they were waiting on a search warrant to comb through the crime scene. Police tape surrounded the entire home.

Aliquippa Police, the Beaver County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and Beaver County Detectives are assisting with the investigation.

Sanchez is at the Beaver County Jail, police say. Bail was denied because officials believe he poses a flight risk.
