ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) - An active homicide investigation is underway in Aliquippa after police say a woman was gunned down in her driveway late Sunday night.

A family member confirmed to KDKA that the victim is Rachael DelTondo, 32, and that she lives on Buchanan Street in Aliquippa.

The family member said that DelTondo was returning home from getting ice cream with a friend late Sunday night. She was shot at the end of her driveway after getting out of the car.

Police combed through the yards and bushes early Monday morning looking for evidence. Officers in both uniforms and plain clothes patrolled Buchanan Street and neighboring streets.

The Beaver County District Attorney's office told KDKA that they are not releasing any suspect information at this time and would not say if they have any leads.

The victim's family requested privacy, but a relative described the victim as a beautiful and kind girl who was well-loved by friends and family.

Neighbors told KDKA that the gun violence needs to stop and they're hurting for the family involved.

"You think you're safe going anywhere, but one house up, you're not," said Fred Poore, a neighbor.

Poore lives right down the street from the scene of the crime. He told KDKA that he heard a commotion after 11 p.m. but quickly fell back asleep.

"I counted six shots that I heard, but I had heard them before in this back area," said Poore.

"You always think you're on the outside of these things-you're looking into it. You just don't know. The world's a little bit crazy now," said Poore.

The Beaver County Coroner said an autopsy is planned for Monday and no further information will be released until the autopsy is complete.
