Police ID Woman's Body Pulled From Allegheny River In 2003, Expect To File Charges Against Son
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police say they expect to file charges in a cold case after advancements in technology helped to identify a woman's body found floating in the Allegheny River in 2003.
According to Allegheny County Police, Carolyn Roehlig's body was pulled from the river near the Fox Chapel Yacht Club on Oct. 24, 2003. She was 66-years-old at the time of her death.
Police say the body was badly decomposed and no identification was ever found.
So, investigators entered her fingerprints into a national database, hoping to find her identity. However, no match was found at the time.
But through technology advancements, police were able to identify her through fingerprints in July.

At the time her body was found, police say her death was not ruled a homicide, but they did investigate it as suspicious.
Police say they questioned the victim's son, Kevin Roehlig, today in connection with his mother's death and they now expect to file charges against him.
Sources say he's admitted that his mother died at home and he dumped the body in the water. But police are continuing their investigation.
KDKA went to Roehlig's home in Sharpsburg Thursday evening. Through the door, the person who answered the door said that he will not be commenting.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office is taking a closer look at the case to determine the cause of death.
Sources also say federal investigators may also be joining the investigation.
