Police: 2 Shooting Incidents In Homewood Believed To Be Connected

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police say two separate shooting incidents in the city's Homewood neighborhood on Friday are connected.

A 19-year-old man is in stable condition after someone opened fire in the 7300-block of Idewild Street around 3:45 p.m.

The victim's friends put him in a car and took him to the hospital.

But moments later, officials say that vehicle was shot at on Kelly and Collier Streets.

Paramedics later intercepted the car and transported the man to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with gunshot wounds to the arm, thigh and lower back.

An home and car were also hit in the gunfire. Police say one woman had to run into a home to escape the shooting scene. No one else was hurt.

Police describe the suspect as an African American man about 5-foot-10-inches tall with a medium build, dark complexion and weighs no more than 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt and dark shorts.
