Police: 2 Pharmacy Employees Handcuffed During Armed Robbery

NEW ALEXANDER BOROUGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Westmoreland County.

According to police, the incident happened at Keystone Pharmacy near the intersection of State Route 981 and Route 22 in New Alexandria.

Two white men wearing masks approached a pharmacist and a clerk around 9 a.m. Thursday. One was armed with pepper spray, while the other had a handgun.

"They walked in with masks and gloves, approached the pharmacist and the clerk that were working at the time," said Trooper Steve Limani, of the Pennsylvania State Police. "One of the individuals was seen with a handgun and another individual had pepper spray in his hands."

The men demanded money and narcotics and the victims complied. Prior to leaving the store, the suspects handcuffed the two employees.

"They were both handcuffed," said Trooper Limani. "They were both told to lay on the ground and they were handcuffed."

The suspects fled the scene in a tan or Champagne-colored Toyota in an unknown direction. Police said the vehicle may be a Corolla.

Police also believe a third suspect may have acted as a lookout or getaway driver.
