Pittsburgh Weather: Blustery winds, snow showers remain through Tuesday

KDKA-TV Afternoon Forecast (3/14)

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - We are in for a blustery final Tuesday of winter, with snow totals from the past 24 hours coming in anywhere between a half an inch all the way up to 4 inches down in Tucker County, W.Va, near Canaan Valley State Park and ski area.

Alert: None.

Aware: Snow showers still sticking around through this evening and through Wednesday morning for the Laurel Highlands.

The Laurels and Ridges remain under a winter weather advisory through 2 p.m., but snow showers will linger there through Wednesday morning, possibly leaving another few inches in the higher elevations.

Roads will be slick this evening as temperatures stay in the lower 30s all day and dip below freezing overnight. Snow showers will end for the rest of the tri-state area by mid-afternoon, but then gusty winds arrive making for a blustery late afternoon and evening.

Never fear! Warmer air arrives as soon as tomorrow with highs inching into the 40s under clearing skies. By Thursday, we'll be in the 50s and close to 60 for St. Patrick's Day Friday (though now it appears we may not make it to 60 degrees)!

A few showers sneak in later Friday (rain showers) and the weekend looks cooler, but mainly dry. This could be our last round of snow, as warmer air looks imminent for next week and spring arrives Monday! Remember, though, that we do average a touch of snow in April in the Pittsburgh region!
