2 Injured In Late-Night Shooting; 2 Men Charged

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man is currently in the hospital in serious condition after being shot in the back, while another man is recovering after being shot in the leg.

The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Thursday along Woods Run Avenue near the city's Brighton Heights and Perry North neighborhoods.

When officers arrived in that area they found two people shot. The first was in a home on Woods Run Avenue. They discovered a man was hit in the back. Medics on the scene quickly took him to the hospital. He remains in serious condition.

Then along the intersection of Woods Run Avenue and Martindale Avenue, officers found a second man. He was shot in the lower leg. Police applied a tourniquet before he was taken to the hospital. Public Safety tells us a K-9 on the scene was also injured in this but is expected to be ok.

A father and son, Kurt Ianuzzo and Jake Ianuzzo, have been charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. Both are in the Allegheny County Jail.

According to the criminal complaint, the violence started over a tow truck driver getting mad a two other tow truck drivers -- the Ianuzzos -- who got to an accident first on Route 65 and took the job. That driver, along with a sibling, went to the house and confronted the Ianuzzos.

Court paperwork shows the Ianuzzos left their home. Kurt had a sawed-off shotgun and another firearm, while Jake had an assault fire. A camera caught two people walking toward their home. Then, the Ianuzzos began firing in their direction.

Detectives say it does not appear the victims had any weapons. The authorities say the Ianuzzos shot a man watching television inside a home on Woods Run Road. The second man shot was a tow truck driver.

Kurt told detectives that his son "had nothing to do with it. He did it because they shot first." Detectives recovered several guns from the Ianuzzo's home.
