A car and van were also damaged in the crash. The Public Works truck started leaking fuel, and the front end of it sustained the most damage.

All the vehicles were towed from the scene. Pittsburgh Police say a sand truck responded to the crash to contain the fuel spilling from the Public Works truck.

Traffic was backing up in the area as only a few vehicles could get by the scene at a time.

Lanes fully reopened around 8 a.m.

Two people were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Officials have not yet said what caused the crash, but police are investigating.
