Pittsburgh Faison assistant principal charged with sexually abusing 9-year-old student
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Faison assistant principal has been charged with sexually abusing a 9-year-old student.
The district told KDKA-TV on Friday that an arrest warrant was issued for James Ziegler, who is also a teacher at Pittsburgh Faison K-5.
"The staff member has been out on administrative leave since notification of the complaint via a 3rd party Childline on December 21, 2022," the statement from the district said.
On Monday, the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office announced Ziegler was charged with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, institutional sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children and unlawful contact with a minor.
The district attorney's office said the alleged abuse happened during lunchtime detentions, which are monitored by Ziegler.
