Pittsburgh Police investigating hit-and-run crash involving cyclist
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A cyclist is in critical condition after Pittsburgh police say he was a victim of a hit and run.
The incident happened at the Cantril and Beaver Street intersection in Marshall-Shadeland. Police say there were no witnesses to this incident, so they're relying on the public to identify who was driving the car that struck the cyclist.
It was around 9 p.m. Thursday when Pittsburgh police say an unresponsive male with life-threatening injuries was discovered lying in the street.
A passing motorist called 911 to help. The driver responsible for the incident, however, drove off into the night.
"I would not expect that to happen, but it's been happening a lot lately," Henry Morrow of Bicycle Heaven said. Morrow operates Bicycle Heaven, not far from the hit-and-run incident.
The bicyclist KDKA spoke to said they feel sorry for the victim, and they want the driver caught, but "We don't go anywhere but the trails; we don't think it's safe. The roads aren't big enough for the cars," bicyclist Mike Simmons added.
The name of the victim is not being released. If you know anything about this hit-and-run, Pittsburgh police want to hear from you.
