Pittsburgh Native, Panther Football Standout Curtis Bray Passes Away
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Gateway High School and University of Pittsburgh football standout Curtis Bray passed away suddenly at the age of 43.
Bray was a part of the Pitt football program from 1988-91 where he played linebacker and enjoyed much success throughout his career, being credited with 170 tackles.
Bray graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in economics.
Most recently, Bray was a member of Paul Rhoads coaching staff at Iowa State where he coached the defensive ends.
Bray's coaching career saw him spend time at Duquesne, Western Kentucky, Villanova, Pitt, and eventually, ending up at Iowa State.
The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department has released the following statement on Bray's passing:
"The Pitt Football Family is shocked and saddened to hear of Curtis Bray's untimely passing. Curtis made indelible contributions as both a player and assistant coach at Pitt. His competitive nature on the field was only surpassed by his kind and gentle demeanor off of it. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and many loved ones. While Curtis will be greatly missed, he will not be forgotten by the many people he touched at Pitt."
