1 dead after shooting in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — One person was killed in a shooting Tuesday in Pittsburgh's Allentown neighborhood.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 200 block of Beltzhoover Ave. around 5:10 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a male shot in the chest.

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead.

He was later identified as 15-year-old Tre'Sean Jackson. In a statement, Pittsburgh Public Schools said he was a ninth-grader at Pittsburgh Carrick.

"A quiet leader who cared deeply about his friends and family, Tre'sean was always willing to contribute to class, actively participating and working well with his classmates. His teachers, friends, and the entire Carrick staff mourn this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time," the district said.

Police are investigating. It is not clear if there are any suspects or arrests.
