Pitt's Boyd, Conner On 2 Preseason Award Watch Lists
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two Pitt football players have been named to preseason award watch lists.
According to a press release from the university, wide receiver Tyler Boyd and running back James Conner were named to the Maxwell Award and Paul Hornung Award watch lists.
The Maxwell Award is given to college football's player of the year by the Maxwell Football Club of Philadelphia.
The Paul Hurnung Award is given to the country's most versatile player.
Last season, Boyd caught 85 passes for 1.174 yards and seven touchdowns. The receptions and receiving yards totals surpassed Larry Fitzgerald's freshman records set back in 2002.
Conner became the first Pitt freshman running back to lead the team in yards (799) and touchdowns (eight) since Dion Lewis in 2009.
