Pitt WR Devin Street Is Ready For The Next Level
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Pitt's all-time leading pass catcher Devin Street joined "The Cook and Poni Show" on Tuesday prior to him leaving for the NFL Combine this weekend in Indianapolis.
Street tells the guys that he is not nervous at all and that a huge part of his future could depend on what happens this weekend.
"I am not nervous at all," Street said. "I have been waiting for this. When the lights go on, you have to show up. You have to be ready and prepared. It's just like preparing for any big game."
Street says he feels confident that he has shown enough on tape that NFL scouts may already have a good idea of what he is capable of. He says he has no expectations of where he may get drafted, saying he can only control what he can. He just hopes for the best.
He says he has benefited from talking with some of his former Pitt teammates who are already in the NFL. The fact that Pitt works next to the Steelers everyday is a way to prepare for some of the unusual questions. He says he has a good idea of what to expect.
"There will be a lot of things thrown at you at the next level and they just want to make sure your mind is right," Street said.
Street said he is 100 percent healthy from the injuries that limited him towards the end of the season. He says he is ready to go.
Devin will be joined by two teammates at the combine - quarterback Tom Savage and the Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron Donald.
"Tom is so underrated," Street said. "He has the arm. He is a smart guy. He is going to be a shocker at the next level. He is going to be a true asset to a team."
Street says Donald will be a no-brainer. He will be a high pick and he says he will be a monster at the next level.
Devin says he feels he has first and second round skills, but sees himself being looked at in the middle rounds. He is fine with that as long as he gets an opportunity. He is ready to prove himself and it starts this weekend.
"The prep has always been there," Street said. "This is my chance to show these teams what I have."
