Pitt Wide Receiver Tyler Boyd Named To Freshman All-American Team

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt Freshman Wide Receiver Tyler Boyd had a record breaking year at Pitt and is now being recognized for those efforts as he was voted to the 13th Annual Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American Team.

Boyd was the most productive freshman wide receiver in the country, catching 85 passes for 1,174 yards breaking the previous freshman records set by former Pitt star Larry Fitzgerald.

This is only the latest honor for Boyd as he was selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team by the league's coaches and media as well as a Freshman All-American by the Sporting News and 247Sports.

Boyd is part of a group that Pitt is hoping can help them turn the corner as a program, and Head Coach Paul Chryst talked about it on The Cook and Poni Show Monday and about the momentum his team is building for the future.
