What time is the Pitt game today? Here's what you need to know ahead of tonight's game against Syracuse.

CBS News Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A primetime matchup between Pitt and Syracuse is on deck at Acrisure Stadium on Thursday night.

The two longtime rivals have played one another every year since 1955, and Thursday will be the 80th time the two teams are meeting.

No. 19 ranked Pitt heads into tonight's game with an undefeated record, off to a 6-0 start for the first time in 42 years. Syracuse is off to a strong start, as well with a 5-1 record.

Freshman quarterback Eli Holstein has been terrific under center all season with 1,697 yards and 15 touchdowns through the six games.

On the defensive side of the ball, Pitt will have a chance to make some plays as quarterback Kyle McCord is leading the ACC in interceptions -- but he does lead the conference in completions and has 19 touchdown passes.

Pitt tight end Gavin Bartholomew said he knows the team isn't getting complacent.

"Guys on our team are hungry and they want to keep eating," Bartholomew said. "And they're going to continue to show that. That's the mindset every day. We told everyone in the summer we can't take a single day off because we're going to have a target on our back once we get rolling and we're doing exactly what we're talking about."

There's expected to be a pretty good crowd tonight at the stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

SportsCenter is broadcasting live from Oakland today

ESPN's SportsCenter did a live broadcast from the lawn of the Cathedral of Learning on Thursday.

Hundreds of Pitt fans, the Pitt Band, spirit squads and legendary Pitt wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald were in attendance as ESPN's Dan Mullen and Matt Barrie broadcasted from the lawn.

Pitt & Syracuse fans ready for a primetime clash

It's a royal blue and yellow gameday! Pitt wants to continue its undefeated season on Thursday evening.

The Panthers are taking on the Syracuse Orange and both fanbases have a lot of reasons to be excited going into Thursday.

Pitt is undefeated and 6-0 for the first time since 1982! Syracuse on the other hand, is no sleeper, with a 5-1 record.

Truman Gendevien has some extra juice coming into this game.

"I'm from the 'Cuse area – so I don't like 'Cuse!" Gendevien said. "It's kind of like – growing up around 'Cuse, it's like the opposite for me."

Around Oakland, Pitt students are looking for some orange crush.

"I feel bad that they have to waste their time coming out here," Pitt junior John Valencia said.

"We're 6-0, why not be 7-0," Pitt freshman Anna Benik said. "I believe in our team."

"It's gonna be a blowout – Pitt's got this… 100%." Pitt junior Ioya Abbasian said.

Really? What are the Syracuse guys saying?

"[It's] one of the more even matchups of the season I've seen so far," Sam Corcoran, a student journalist/videographer at CitrusTV in Syracuse, said.

Pitt vs. Syracuse represents a homecoming for one broadcaster

It's all happening at Acrisure Stadium. It's sort of a homecoming for Luke Burgess.

"This was a game that I really wanted to work," Burgess said.

Burgess is driving up to report on the sidelines tonight. His student radio station – is the same one legends like CBS Sports' Ian Eagle did while he was in college.

"It's exciting," Burgess said.

He's from Meadville, Crawford County – and grew up a Steelers fan!

"To be consistently watching games – going to big games there my entire life – it's pretty cool to be involved in covering one," Burgess said.
