Pitt QB Chad Voytik: 'We're Stronger Now Than Ever'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pitt quarterback Chad Voytik joined Colin Dunlap, Josh Miller, and Jeff Hathhorn on "The Fan Morning Show" on Friday to talk about the Panthers.
In case you didn't know, Pitt's season-opener against Youngstown State and the official start of the Pat Narduzzi era is only eight days away.
Voytik said that the Panthers had a good camp, but are chomping at the bit to get the season started.
"We're ready to play a different opponent," Voytik said. "We're tired of playing each other."
Voytik also discussed what kind of team Narduzzi wants.
"Definitely a physical team," Voytik said. "I think, just like his defense, we're going to be the toughest team and the most physical team, but we also have players that can finesse you, I guess, a little bit."
Voytik also addressed Narduzzi's handling of Tyler Boyd and Rori Blair's brushes with the law, which earned each of them a one-game suspension.
"I think the message is clear," Voytik said. "They obviously regretted what they did, and we're all here to support them, of course. Not much had to be said, because they understood how it affects the team and how it affects them individually. So, we just wanted to be good teammates to them and just let them know that we're here for them and support them. We're going to miss them the first game, but coach Narduzzi did what he felt was necessary, and we're going to support him in his decision."
Overall, Voytik feels like his team is in a fantastic place right now.
"We're really excited," Voytik said. "After this camp, we feel like we can take on anything, honestly. It's been a long, grueling camp, but it will make us stronger in the long run. I feel like that's the overall mentality, that we're stronger now than ever."
