Pitt Football Unveils Throwback Uniforms For Homecoming Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Honoring tradition.

Pitt football has unveiled throwback uniforms dating back to the glory days, and a long ago national championship.

They'll take the field again, for the Homecoming game Oct. 8, and longtime fans and employees love it already.

"I like it a lot. I think it reminds me of the old days at Pitt, and Dan Marino," said one fan.

It'll be a week, at least, before the jerseys are available at the Panthers team store in Petersen Events Center in Oakland.

But the electric blue and gold t-shirts and other apparel are already a hit.

"I think it's a good idea to have it at the Homecoming game, because there will be a lot of alumni there who like the old colors. So I think it's a really good idea," a fan said.

"When my mom went here that's the colors they had on the field, so it'll be nice to see that on the field too," added another fan.
