Police: Missing Pitcairn Teen Found Safe
PITCAIRN (KDKA) -- A missing boy from Pitcairn has been found safe after a frantic search New Year's Eve night that involved more than 100 volunteers.
According to Allegheny County Police, 13-year-old Christopher Horton had last been seen at his home around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.
Horton eventually showed up at his mother's home on Thursday evening. The extensive search involved more than 100 volunteer firefighters and police officers.
He was being questioned by Allegheny County Police.
Sources say he may have injured his leg after spending some time in a wooded area in Pitcairn where the search was centered.
But he likely spent Wednesday night at the home of an acquaintance in Monroeville.
Police said they are especially concerned for Horton's well-being because he left his house Wednesday without any winter clothing to protect him from the freezing temperatures.
