Pirates Trade With Rockies To Secure Help In Bullpen

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates got some bullpen help today trading for Colorado Rockies righty Rob Scahill.  The 27-year-old was 1-0 with a 4.80 ERA in 12 relief appearances with Colorado and 2-3 with two saves and a 4.32 ERA in Triple A.

The Bucs gave up their thenth round selection from the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, right-handed pitcher Shane Carle.  The 23-year-old was 4-8 with a 3.67 ERA in 27 minor league games between low A West Virginia and high A Bradenton.

Scahill was added to the 40-man roster where he will compete for a roster spot with John Holdzkom, Preston Guilmet, Chaz Roe, Angel Sanchez and Casey Sadler to help in middle relief.
