Pirates Sign Two Minor-Leaguers

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed catcher Wilkin Castillo and right-handed pitcher Josh Wall to minor league contracts with invitations to big league spring training camp.

Castillo, a 30-year-old switch hitter, played in the Mexican League last year where he hit .206 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 11 RBI in 33 games.

Castillo broke into the league back in 2008 with the Cincinnati Reds.

The 28-year-old Wall was claimed by the Pirates last year off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels and spent most of the year with AAA Indianapolis where he pitched in relief registering three saves in 28 appearances while posting a 2.91 ERA.

Wall is a former second-round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.

The Pirates now have 23 non-roster players invited to big league camp.
