Peter King On Bell, Brady Suspensions
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Bob Pompeani talked about the Steelers and Deflategate with Peter King of Sports Illustrated and NBC Sports.
King told Pompeani that he thought that Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell would have only gotten a two-game suspension after his August arrest on marijuana and DUI charges.
"I think that he got three (game suspension) because of the aggravating circumstances in that case. But I honestly thought he was going to get two, and I think that three comes in because of those aggravating circumstances," King said. He added that he thought that LeGarrette Blount would have received a two-game suspension instead of the one game penalty that he received.
King discussed the penalty handed down to the New England Patriots in the Deflategate case, and told Pompeani that if Tom Brady goes to court to lessen or eliminate his suspension, he can get it reduced.
"I don't believe it will be eliminated, but I believe it will be reduced. I think the Steelers will be seeing Jimmy Garoppolo opening night," King said.
King said that he doesn't think that a proposed rule pushing the ball placement for extra points to the 15-yard line will impact the game significantly.
"It's still going to be close to, not automatic, but it's still going to be ninety percent or so. And so I don't know that this solves it forever," King said.
