PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A large police response converged on Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood on the North Side late Thursday night after shots were fired at detectives.

It happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Mayfield and Marshall Avenues.

Police were searching several streets including Mayfield Avenue, Delgar Street, Mohn Way and Marshall Avenue.

According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, plainclothes detectives were in an SUV when they were fired upon.

No police officers were hurt, and no one returned fire.

One neighbor told KDKA he heard at least one gunshot and police arrived on the scene quickly.

Officers were searching for a dark sedan, possibly an older-model, dark-colored Chrysler 300. Authorities say the suspect or suspects shot through the rear windshield.

The investigation continues.
