Perry South Man Dies From Injuries Suffered In December Hit-&-Run

PERRY SOUTH (KDKA) - A Perry South man has died from the injuries he suffered after being run over by a vehicle in December.

Around 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 20, 64-year-old Gregory Simpson was hit by either a truck or SUV at the intersection of Federal Street Extension and Seabright Street.

Paramedics rushed Simpson to Allegheny General Hospital. He died from his injuries Monday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Along with hitting Simpson, the driver of the unknown vehicle also hit two unoccupied vehicles.

Investigators believe the vehicle is a mid-90s model, gray GMC or Ford SUV or truck. A bug shield is believed to have been mounted on the vehicle. Investigators found pieces of the vehicle left behind at the scene.

Anyone with information that could help lead to an arrest in the case is asked to call the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Special Deployment Division at (412)-937-3051.
