Pens Winger Patric Hornqvist Out 'A Few Weeks'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Not a stranger to injuries, the Pittsburgh Penguins lost another key player after winger Patric Hornqvist left Saturday night's game against the Washington Capitals.

As CBSSports.com Hockey Writer Chris Peters writes, Hornqvist sustained a lower-body injury and head coach Mike Johnston has revealed he's expected to be out "a few weeks."

Hornqivst went down in the first period against the Capitals and did not return to action in a game the Penguins lost 3-0.

On the year, Hornqivst has spent time playing on both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin's lines racking up 13 goals and 16 assists in 33 games.

Hornqvist joins a long line of injured Penguins as the team is missing forwards Blake Comeau, Beau Bennett, Pascal Dupuis, and Craig Adams and defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, Olli Maatta and Paul Martin along with forward Steve Downie and backup goaltender Thomas Greiss missing time due to the mumps.

The Eastern Conference leading Pens with a record of 22-8-5 are back in action on Monday night as they visit the New Jersey Devils.
