Pens: Malkin Day-To-Day, Hornqvist Out At Least A Week
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Just when the Penguins were the healthiest they've been in quite a long time, two more players were injured this weekend.
Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist are the latest Penguins to miss time this season.
Malkin was injured in a collision with Boston's Chris Kelly early in the first period on Saturday,
He left the ice immediately, but was able to return and finish the period. However, he did not return for the second period and sat out the rest of the game. He also did not play against Detroit on Sunday.
Today, the Penguins announced Malkin will not begin the upcoming three-game road trip with the team. However, he could join them later in the trip and is officially listed as day-to-day.
As for Hornqvist, he suffered an undisclosed injury during the third period of Sunday's game against Detroit.
He will not join the team on the road trip, but it is not expected to be a long-term injury.
The Penguins' three-game road trip begins Tuesday night in New Jersey.
