PennDOT Closing Parkway East Outbound This Weekend
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The outbound Parkway East will be shutting down this weekend, weather permitting, for road work.
The closure, stretching from Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies ramp, begins Friday at 10 p.m. and will continue through 5 a.m. Monday.
According to PennDOT, road crews will be painting the Birmingham Bridge and doing some construction work on I-376.
There will be detours in place, but drivers should expect significant delays.
Here are PennDOT's posted detours:
Eastbound Fort Pitt Bridge Traffic
· From the Fort Pitt Bridge, continue eastbound on I-376 to the Grant Street Exit
· Take the Grant Street (71A) off-ramp
· Turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885) heading southbound
· Take the ramp to East 376 toward Monroeville
· End detour
Southbound Fort Duquesne Bridge Traffic
· From the Fort Duquesne Bridge, take the ramp toward Downtown/East 376 Monroeville
· From the left lane, take the ramp toward Downtown Pittsburgh onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
· Follow Fort Pitt Boulevard to Grant Street
· From Grant Street, turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885) heading southbound
· Take the ramp to East 376 toward Monroeville
· End detour
Traffic from Downtown Pittsburgh to Oakland
· From Grant Street, take the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885) southbound
· Follow the Boulevard of the Allies to Forbes Avenue
· End detour
Traffic from Eastbound I-376 to Oakland
· From eastbound I-376, take the Grant Street (Exit 71A) off-ramp
· Turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885)
· Follow the Boulevard of the Allies to Forbes Avenue
· End detour
PennDOT says there will be no restrictions on the inbound side of the road.
