Penn State 'Battled A Lot Of Teams' For Top Recruit Miles Sanders
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Penn State Assistant Coach, Defensive Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Backs coach Terry Smith joined The Starkey and Mueller Show on Sportsradio to talk about Penn State's highly-rated recruiting class.
The gem of the recruiting class for Penn State is 5-star recruit, Woodland Hills running back Miles Sanders.
Smith says it was a battle to keep Sanders committed to the Nittany Lions.
"He's a legitimate prospect and a guy we're looking forward to getting on campus," Smith said about Sanders. "It was a tough recruitment. We battled a lot of teams down the stretch. Miles committed awfully early for us and we had to weather some storms through and through, but he held firm to his commitment and we're just excited. He's an explosive talent. He's fast, he's strong, he's got really good size and vision and we feel that he's going to come in and make an immediate impact."
Smith was also asked about the negative recruiting that head coach James Franklin has to deal with at times, and said some schools do employ that tactic.
"I don't know if we get more or less than other schools," Smith said. "I think there is an element out there that some schools do negative recruit. We at Penn State don't get into that. We just want to see our university and all that Penn State can offer to you as a program."
