PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins made a trade on the first night of the NHL Draft.

Ryan Reaves will be coming to Pittsburgh from the St. Louis Blues.

In return, the Penguins are sending rookie forward Oskar Sundqvist and the 31st overall pick to the Blues.

The Pens added toughness by acquiring the seven-year veteran forward. They also get the Blues' second-round pick, 51st overall.

According to the Penguins, the 30-year-old Reaves is signed through the 2017-18 season. He is a native of Winnipeg and was drafted by the Blues in the fifth round of the 2005 draft.

Penguins General Manager Jim Rutherford said in a news release, "We're very excited to add Ryan to our organization. He will be a regular in our top-12, and he will add both size and a physical presence."

Last season with the Blues, Reaves had seven goals, six assists, 13 points and 104 penalty minutes. He played in 11 playoff games.
