Penguins Formally Invite Original HBK To Game 5

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Is the original HBK coming to Pittsburgh to watch the Penguins' line named after him? It seems so.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been on a tear for the past few months.

A major reason for that is the play of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel. Nicknames in hockey aren't anything new, so it was only natural that one be bestowed upon that line.

Hence, the HBK Line was born. Wrestling fans may be familiar with those three letters.

WWE legend Shawn Michaels, aka "The Heartbreak Kid," is the original HBK.

Whenever the HBK Line scores, Twitter is flooded with GIFs of Michaels in the squared circle. So much so, that Michaels has taken notice and is now cheering on the Penguins.

He's even interacting with fans during the Eastern Conference Finals.

During Game 3, the Penguins formally invited Michaels to Sunday's Game 5 back in Pittsburgh. The #GetHBKtoGame5 soon followed from fans.

Brett Keisel also joined the effort to convince Michaels to come up from Texas to cheer on the Pens in person.

Once the final seconds ticked off the clock in Game 3, Michaels issued another statement to Penguins fans.

And Thursday night on Facebook, Michaels posted this video confirming he's heading to Pittsburgh.

There could be even more incentive for Michaels to make the trip for Game 5.

With another win in Game 4, the Penguins would have a chance to deliver some Sweet Chin Music and clinch the series on Sunday.

Sandwich-staple Primanti Bros. is also getting in on the HBK mania.

They've created an HBK sandwich just in time for game 4.

The restaurant says it contains ham, bacon, and kielbasa.
