Pedestrian Injured, Driver Arrested In South Side Hit-And-Run Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A male pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Pittsburgh's South Side early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the scene near the corner of East Carson and 12th Streets around 1:50 a.m. They found the 24-year-old victim down in the street, near Jack's Bar.

The victim was conscious and breathing at the scene. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment and was last listed in stable condition.

Witnesses pointed out the suspect's vehicle to police. The driver, Jacob Bintrim, 22, of New Castle, was arrested on McArdle Roadway after leading police on a brief chase.

Police said the driver and the victim had an altercation earlier in the evening and both were intoxicated.

The driver is facing a list of charges including, DUI, fleeing police and possession of cocaine.

Police were looking at surveillance cameras outside a nearby bar for clues.
