Paul Chryst Offers His Thoughts On Tyler Boyd's Criticism

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pitt football head coach Paul Chryst joined "The Fan Morning Show" Thursday as his Panthers prepare to take on UNC in Chapel Hill on Saturday.

Chryst addressed wide receiver Tyler Boyd's comments in which he stated that only a select few Pitt players are willing to go all out, and named the players that he thought were willing to do so.

"I love the competitiveness that he has," Chryst said. "You know, honestly, it creates some dialogue amongst the guys and it was good, and that competitiveness and finding that edge to win is what he and a lot of guys want."

Conspicuously absent from that list was quarterback Chad Voytik. Chryst said that Voytik and Boyd have handled the situation well.

"You know what was great is Chad was the first one that told me about it and he goes, 'You know how hard that is coach,'" Chryst said. "He goes, all of a sudden, you're asked to name names, he says, I know I've screwed that one up. We'll have a segment of the day where they meet together and those two brought it up right from the get-go, and it was good to hear it, and good for them to be able to talk about it. Chad wasn't questioning where Tyler was coming from and didn't feel threatened. Those things happen in families and I was proud of the way those guys were reacting to it and talking about it, and it was good to see."

Chryst joins "The Fan Morning Show" Thursdays at 7:20 a.m.
